Kung Hei Fat Choi - 2007 - Year of the Pig

Currently in: Bangkok, Thailand

I've left Hong Kong and finally arrived to the outrageous city of Bangkok. I took a tuk tuk around town yesterday for probably 4 hours. There was some strange tourisme day that made it even cheaper than normal and I paid less than $1 CAD. ... now that i think about it i probably got scammed but oh well gotta keep looking forward.

Here is a quick recap of Hong Kong

Sights
  • Tian Tan Buddha - Big Buddha
  • Macau - Las Vegas of Asia
  • Victoria Peak - Highest point on Hong Kong Island
  • Harbour Light Show- Genuise Book of World Records for largest light shot in the worl
  • New Year Parade - The streets were to full to actually see any of the floats
  • New Year Fireworks - Symphony of Fire on ritalin
  • HK Space Meseum - Yes I am a NERD

Best Food - Subway at 2 in the morning

Biggest Surprise - Finding White Spot

Cheapest Night Out - 7 11 pub crawl

Most Memorable Night Out - Sleeping with/Hugging the toilet after bar hopping in Central with Sami's friend Nick

Best Mode of transport - Boat

Biggest Disappointment - Not realizing I was purchasing a ticket on the fast boat and not the hydrofoil to Macau.

know when to hold 'em, know when to throw 'em

$100 on the table. I anxiously waited for my two cards. First card: five... oh great I needed a five or six on my next cards. Looking around the table the girl two over from me hit a 12, and two others sat comfortably with 20s. My heart pounded as I watched the dealer flip my card. The dealer reveal my nightmare: a queen. I was sitting at 15 while the dealer showed a ten. This was my first hand and I had to win otherwise my visit to Macau would be short lived. Looking 3 people over the 12 busted and hit 22, the two twenties stayed and now it was my turn. I went for it. tap tap.. the dealer looked at me and made me re´tap.. Sweat started to form on my forehead as I went for it. nervously I tapped my fingers again and watched ... the dealer reached for the card and revealed a four. Phew.. a hige sigh of relief came over me. I was standing at a solid nineteen. I waived the dealer off. The dealer was up. He had his ten and i need him to hit anything other than a 10. He flipped the card and revealed a 8. Yes I doubled up and won my first hand.

I visited Macau yesterday, the las vegas of asia and it was loads of fun. A complete zoo getting over there and back. Tons and tons of people pushing their way through the crowds trying to get on the boat. The city has some cool casinos but later this year there is gonna be an underwater casino, an MGM and the Vanetician. I got back in around 1 in the morning and after a full day of walking and gambling I B Lined it to my bed.

Boarded the bus and arrived at hostel: 4 beds in a room equiped for 2, toilet in the shower, meeting my roomates just before they head to the bar. 4 subway stops, 1 transfer, beers from the local 7 11 and somehow after a 14 hour flight I was at the bar. 2 in the morning... oh no the subway system closed. 3 in the morning REDBULL. Back in the hostel at 5 just in time for a 4 hour sleep before heading out for another adventure.

BLOG #1

Time to start a travel blog...
Joining the world of cyberspace - One more to add to the millions fighting in the blogging revolution.

Well I'm off to Asia, which probably most of you don't actually know. I Still haven't figured everything out but the main plan is to be gone for two months. I'm hoping to visit Hong Kong, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam , and I need to stop in Cambodia to save the children from Angelina.

My plan is to keep my blogs short, exciting and predominately photos. This makes it easy for me and easy for you. Win-win no one loses. That being said this entry is probably already too long.

This Blog will benefit you:

1. Eliminate unnecessary mass e-mails. Apart from the one telling you about this site.

2. Keep track of me. Who? What? Where? When? Maybe a little invasive but what more could you ask for? "A million dollars. A car. A pen." OK I get it. There's a lot more you could ask for. Bare with me over the next two months while I relive the nightmare of completing the four "W"s of a grade five book assignment.

3. Stay as far away from me as you wish. (Infomercial voice required) Do you hate receiving mass e-mails from people you barely know or even people you do know? With Blogs you now have a choice. Maybe its an uncaring nature or possibly "A" "D" "D" which has led to an inability to get through pages of text detailing ones experience. If you suffer from one or more of these symptoms please kindly move your mouse cursor over the "x" in the top right corner and click - trust me your problem will be solved.

Stay tuned
